SQL Server error log helps us to identify any issues on database server and getting the SQL Server error log on Linux machine is quite easy and in this article we are going to see the location of error log and how to read it on Linux system.

Below is the default location of error log.

/var/opt/mssql/log

cat command is used to read the file in Unix and tail is used to read last 10 lines of file. you can use vi <errorlog file> to view the error log in vi editor. In case you are new to Linux then you can go through my other article here which i have created it for Unix Beginners.

command: cat errorlog |tail
